Lopé National Park in pictures.
Lopé National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves a rare meeting of relict savanna grasslands and dense equatorial rainforest shaped over millennia. It shelters more than 60 mammal species, including forest elephants and the world's largest gatherings of mandrills, the vividly coloured primate. The park also safeguards ancient rock engravings and archaeological traces of human settlement stretching back thousands of years.
