Bale Mountains National Park in pictures.
The Bale Mountains rise to the high Sanetti Plateau, one of the largest stretches of Afro-alpine moorland in Africa and a refuge for the rare Ethiopian wolf, the continent's most endangered carnivore. Below the heights, the Harenna Forest descends into misty cloud forest rich in birdlife and endemic mammals such as the mountain nyala. It is a paradise for trekkers, wildlife watchers, and birders.
