Fez

Fez el-Bali is a maze of more than nine thousand alleys where donkeys still carry goods past mosques, fountains and centuries-old workshops. The Marinid-era Bou Inania Madrasa dazzles with carved cedar, stucco and zellij tilework, while the Chouara tannery dyes leather in stone vats exactly as it has for centuries. It remains Morocco's cultural and intellectual heart.
