Natural wonder
In Namibia, Southern Africa
Spitzkoppe in pictures.
Often called the Matterhorn of Namibia, the Spitzkoppe is a cluster of bald granite inselbergs jutting abruptly from the surrounding plains. Hundreds of millions of years old, its smooth domes blaze orange at sunrise and sunset and shelter ancient San rock art. A natural rock arch and clear desert skies make it a favourite for photographers and stargazers.
