- When to go
- The best time to visit is during the dry seasons from June to August and December to February. These months offer the best conditions for gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing, as trails are less slippery and animals congregate near water sources. The wet seasons (March-May and September-November) are excellent for birdwatching and lush photography.
- Visa and entry
- US and EU citizens require an e-Visa to enter Uganda, which must be applied for online before arrival via the official portal. A single-entry tourist visa costs $50 and is valid for 90 days. Alternatively, the East Africa Tourist Visa ($100) allows multi-country travel between Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya. Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for entry.
- Health
- A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for all travelers. Recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Cholera, and Meningitis. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly advised as Uganda is a high-risk zone. Ensure you are also up to date on routine vaccines like MMR and DTaP.
