Know before you go: timing, entry, health, and logistics for Senegal.
- When to go
- The best time to visit is during the cool, dry season from November to February, when temperatures are pleasant (around 24-30°C) and the weather is ideal for both city exploration and birdwatching.
- Visa and entry
- US and EU citizens can enter Senegal visa-free for stays of up to 90 days. A passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of departure is required. While policies can change, as of 2024, no advance visa or e-visa is necessary for these nationals.
- Health
- A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from a country with risk of transmission, and is strongly recommended for all travelers. Routine vaccinations (Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Polio) should be up-to-date. Malaria prophylaxis is highly recommended for all parts of Senegal.
