National park
In Rwanda, East Africa
Akagera National Park in pictures.
Spread across savannah, wetlands, and a chain of lakes in eastern Rwanda, Akagera is the country's largest national park and its only Big Five destination. After decades of restoration, it is home to lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and hippos, with boat safaris on Lake Ihema offering close views of hippos and crocodiles. Its sweeping plains and over 500 bird species make it a classic East African game-drive experience.
