Tipasa in pictures.
Tipasa was an ancient trading post that grew under Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine rule, leaving an unusually layered archaeological complex on the coast west of Algiers. Visitors can wander among seaside temples, basilicas, a theatre and necropolises with the blue Mediterranean as a constant backdrop. Its blend of history and shoreline beauty has made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982.
